About Martin House Hospice
Martin House provides family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. They support families from across West, North and East Yorkshire, both at their hospice and in the community. Their families are at the heart of everything they do and they value each member as an individual with their own needs.
Some children might receive hospice care for a relatively short time, for example if they have a malignant disease such as cancer where palliative care is an option. The majority have longer term, progressive disorders such as Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, or Batten's Disease. These children might use the hospice over a much longer period of time.
They accept referrals for children and young people aged 0-19, including babies diagnosed in the antenatal stages. Even without a referral, both families and professionals can seek advice at any time from their experienced professionals who are experts in paediatric palliative care.
The hospice itself is a place where children, young people and their families can come to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. It is a place of love and understanding, a peaceful place but one that can also have a lively, friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter, where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life.
Ben Lewis, CEO of BCL Consultancy Limited, comments: 'We are very proud to announce our partnership with Martin House Hospice to help support the fantastic charity in everything they do to support the children, young people and their families. Over the next two years I’m looking forward to seeing our employees come up with lots of creative fundraising ideas, as well as using our expertise where we can to help deliver therapeutic sessions to young people. Combined with our #BCLHelps initiative, our charity work allows us to make a difference and have a real impact on our local community.'
Becky Beevers Partnerships Manager at Martin House says: ‘We are delighted to be working with BCL Consultancy Limited over the next two years as their charity partner. Support from businesses is vital, it costs Martin House over £9million per year to provide our services, and with only 10% funding from the Government, the funds raised during partnerships like this will enable us to keep caring. We’re looking forward to working together on some exciting fundraising ideas and can’t wait to see what the team come up with!"
